When trying to interface the IBM PC to a 12" Sony Profeel RGB monitor, a couple of problems exist. One is the incompatibility of the vertical and horizontal sync signals, and another is the lack of an intensity input on the Profeel. These problems exist only when using RGB; composite video is okay. The sync problem is due to the IBM PC putting out vertical and horizontal sync signals that are 180Πout of phase with that required by the Profeel. This problem is solved by the use of integrated circuit inverters (I1a and I1b in the figure.) A second problem is only a problem if one desires 16 colors. If 8 colors are satisfactory, it is only necessary to invert the sync signals. To obtain 16 colors, the R, G and B signals must be intensified by the intensity signal.
