This article describes a pel (picture element) coordinate data stream that can be given as an alternative to users when a host attached workstation has an all-points-addressable display screen. Workstations, that give the user the facility to pan, scroll and zoom, usually receive the display coordinates from the host processor on some global scale not necessarily related to the workstation's own physical requirements. The global coordinates are stored and processed in the workstation to transform them into a scale related to the workstation screen dimensions. If the user is going to make use of the pan, scroll and zoom facilities, then it is necessary for the workstation to have stored locally the high definition global coordinates and the local processor will have to perform the transformation operations.
