Model for Mixed-Type Coordinate Systems

This invention relates to a method for coordinate computing in a graphical system for coordinate transformation which permits arbitrary scaling, rotation, translation and perspective, these functions being constrained such that only translation can be applied to some coordinates. The method steps include (a) factoring coordinates into two parts, one part being fully transformable and the other part being translatable; (b) applying full transformation to the first coordinate part and applying the translation to only the other coordinates; and (c) summing the results. Transforms are composed in the usual way by matrix multiplication. However, for this purpose, transforms must be composed in a special way for embedded text and image coordinate systems.
