The figure shows a detachable lead collector used in a robot system for automatic manufacturing of harness cables. The lead collector consists of a base plate 1, an intermediate part 2 and a lead collecting part 3. The base plate is provided with permanent magnets 4 for detachably holding the lead collector on a sheet iron plate 5 positioned within the work envelope of a robot (not shown). Thus, the lead collector can be placed in an optional position on the iron plate and also be removed therefrom by the gripper of the robot. In order to facilitate the removal of the lead collector from the iron plate, there is provided a release mechanism in the intermediate part 2. The release mechanism consists of a spring-loaded piston 6 provided with a cam surface 7 and a cam-actuated release pin 8.
