This article pertains to an improvement in the external panel repair process used in the fabrication of plasma discharge display panels. One method of repairing open lines on a plasma panel uses spare conductors on a flexible cable which are substituted for the open line. The plasma panel conductors terminate at or pass through land areas designated repair pads. These spare conductors are prepositioned wires on tape, and the repair process is highly labor intensive. The repair conductor(s) must be removed from the tape and manually routed through two 90Πbends, positioning it over a solder preform located directly over the repair pads at the terminals of the conductors. The repair conductor is then soldered to the repair pads, and any excess wire removed.
