Abstract

One example of an erase waveform Ve used in large size high resolution AC plasma display panels is shown in Fig. 1. The operating window for erase operation lies within the range of Ve max - Ve min . This waveform, published in the Conference Record of the SID Biennial Display Research Conference (1980), was designed to produce wide erase voltage windows under stringent display conditions. However, during an erase operation, the time interval between sustain cycles is extended, for example, to 20 microseconds and no sustain function occurs during this interval. This produces a delay in the sustain operation and the update time of the display unit in panel operations requiring frequent erase. To increase the speed of the erase operation and increase the update time of the panel, an erase waveform shown in Fig.
