In plasma panel fabrication, two glass plates with orthogonal conductor arrays disposed thereon are sealed to provide a panel. During the sealing operation, a tubulation member used for evacuation and filling of the panel is placed over a fill hole in the upper plate and sealed in position. In conventional plasma panels, the glass plates are approximately 1/4" thick, and a stepped hold is employed to position and control the tubulation member during a seal. However, when the glass plates are reduced to .090" thick, such stepped hold designs are expensive, and difficulty is experienced in mainlining the tubulation member in alignment during the seal operation.
