An optical recording head is mounted on a pivoting arm so that the head may be moved for accessing tracks on the optical recording disk. The pivoting arm may be adjusted to position the objective lens of the optical head relative to the recording disk surface. To permit this adjustment, the arm is mounted on a shaft with an adjustment nut and belleville washers. This invention describes a way to make the focus adjustment of the laser optics 2 to the optical disk l. The swing arm 4 and optics are mounted on a pivot shaft 9 with two ball bearings 5 that are preloaded with a spring 6 to eliminate the radial play in the bearings. The inner races of the bearings are positioned by a spacer 7 and contact two belleville washers 8.
