Flexible Component Carrier and Transfer Tool Therefor

A flexible component carrier 1 comprises two sheets 2 and 3 of transparent plastics material. Components are carried in holes 4 in one sheet 2 which are shaped and dimensioned to allow components to pass therefrom. Components are locked in position in the holes 4 in the one sheet 2 by engagement in the narrow ends of keyholes 5 in the other sheet 3. The sheets 2, 3 are transversely relatively slidable to disengage and release the components. For this purpose, the one sheet has at both ends a pair of transverse slots 6 of limited length, through which pass flaps 7 formed by H-shaped slots 8 in the other sheet. This allows limited relative transverse movement between a component-carrying position (Fig. 1) and a component-releasing position (Fig. 2).
