Abstract

Essentially any microcomputer (uC) system that is designed with common signature analysis (SA) techniques in mind can be tested more rapidly using a specialized test vehicle (a Dedicated Microcomputer System Tester) that employs the Brute-Force and enhanced SA techniques described herein. Rapid testing is accomplished by first performing Brute-Force tests, which may eliminate the need for further testing. However, if any of the Brute-Force tests fail and further testing becomes necessary, the Dedicated Microcomputer System Tester allows SA tests to be performed much faster than they can be performed by hand, and without the possibility of probing errors that can occur when hand probing a uC system.
