Abstract

The present method allows for either horizontal or vertical zoom modes to be implemented on an anti-alias display without altering the system interface. By the appropriate selection of the zoom mode the demand on the system can be reduced by 50%. Assume that the video data for each line is stored in the byte- wide memory. Let the bits be 1 through 8. During normal operation the stored "8" bit from the previous byte together with bits "1" and "2" and the equivalent bits from the next line are used to calculate the intensity of pel (picture element) n. Similarly, bits "2", "3" and "4" are used to calculate pel n+1, bits "4", "5" , and "6" are used to calculate pel n+2, and bits "6", "7", and "8" are used to calculate pel n+3. Bit "8" is stored to be used for the next byte.
