This article describes an automatic level diskette buffer which maintains diskettes at a predetermined height for robot handling while providing operator access to service the tool without interrupting the process. The tool of the present disclosure utilizes diskette canisters for presenting unjacketed diskettes to a robot or other two-height manipulator. It is suitable for both manual and automatic servicing with no interference of the process cycle. The tool essentially consists of two independent sub-assemblies which are coupled only when required for joint operation.
