Apparatus for Indicating Magnification and Registration Error of Optical Scanner

This apparatus can be utilized in a bill-handling machine, which has an optical scanner for scanning a pattern of bill moving on a scan plate, to easily adjust magnification and registration of the scanner at manufacture or maintenance time. As shown in Fig. 1, right and left limit lines are fixedly marked on the scan plate out of the scan area for the pattern. In the scanner shown in detail in Fig. 2 having sense elements in a line to sense the image of the scanned row of the pattern, two reference positions R1 and R2 are defined in locations which are symmetrically arranged with relation to each other with respect to the middle of the images of the right and left limit lines to be sensed when the scanner is properly adjusted.
