Abstract

This article describes a method which "paints" the inside of a polygon, as shown in the example of Fig. 1, using the hardware shown in Fig. 2. First, data of lines 1 and 2 are stored in a mask register and work register, respectively. Then, the data in the work register are inverted by exclusive-OR gates and are ANDed with the data in the mask register. The outputs of the AND gates are the painting signals for line 2 (Fig. 3). Next, the outputs of the AND gates are written into the mask register while data for line 3 are stored in the work register. Then, the data in the work register are inverted by the exclusive-OR gates and are ANDed with the data in the mask register. The outputs of the AND gates are the painting signals for line 3. The inside of the polygon is painted by repeating the above operation.
