Anchoring Control Blocks in a Multiprocessing System Using Reentrant Code

This invention relates to a method for anchoring control blocks in a multiprogramming, multiprocessing reentrant code environment in which control blocks are chained in a predetermined manner responsive to execution of a LOAD instruction. The method comprises the steps of (a) executing a LOAD instruction having an argument naming the control blocks; (b) during subsequent invocations of the reentrant code, finding the control blocks by searching the interconnecting chains thereto and identifying the associated address; and (c) passing the address to the reentrant code for utilization, whereby second and subsequent LOAD instruction executions are avoided.
