A holder for an LED is made in two complementary molded plastic halves. Each half has a central channel that holds the LED and carries its two electrical leads. The electrical connector that slips over the end of a lead has a tab, and one of the two halves has a hole that the tab fits into to lock the lead to the holder. The holder has two flexible elements that snap into an opening in a subpanel. The flexible elements also have a finger grab area where maintenance personnel can easily depress the two elements to release the diode and its holder from the subpanel.
