In this system the shut-off valve is placed downstream from the final filter to achieve rapid response time. To prevent the shut-off shock transient from damaging the sensitive filter, the shut-off valve maintains constant flow through the filter by transferring the flow from the point-of-use port to a waste port. To minimize contaminants which could be introduced by the valve itself, the valve is of the type that pinches off flexible tubing.
