An instrumentation facility for parallel processing systems is a method to instrument a large number of computer processors 11 arranged in (n) number of parallel paths. It collects and formats the performance data at each processing level 12 and those interactions between processing levels affecting the overall performance of the selected system structure, by utilizing a selected processor 11 at each level of parallelism for instrumentation data handling.
