Method for Advancing Photoconductor Panels

When it is desired to advance photoconductor (PC) panels in an incrementing drum copier or printer, the panels on the exterior surface of the drum are first charged, using the copier's charge corona. All coronas and all lamps are then deactivated and mechanical advance of the PC panels is activated. An electrostatic sensor is positioned adjacent the revolving photoconductor drum, to sense the photoconductor's charge on the used length of photoconductor, and operates to discontinue advance of the photoconductor when a charge is no longer detected, thus indicating that all of the used photoconductor has been incremented to the inside of the drum.
