An open collector T2L driver with an external resistor is com- monly used to vary output up levels; down levels are determined by the TTL Circuit. Other schemes utilizing external transistors to control down levels have been suggested, but many give rise to oscillations on the down level. This simple approach, using a diode, effectively allows one to vary the down level with no oscillations or other complications. Utilizing two resistors and a diode, control (or adjustment) of both the up level and down level is achievable.
