Frequently in servo systems and function generators, nonlinear signal gains are required. An example of a nonlinear (variable) gain function is shown in Fig. 1. In contrast, a linear gain function simply is a continuous straight line. This disclosure teaches a low cost, accurate, yet settable, variable gain network.
