Dynamically Reconfigurable Logical Ring Network

This article describes a method and means of reconfiguration of a logical ring network at least one of whose nodes is connectable to a service CPU. The method comprises the steps of (1) detecting the failure of a network element (node or link), (2) communicating the information to the service CPU and calculating a bypass, and (3) reconfiguring the network through the communication of selected control signals connecting some network elements and isolating others.
