Within a given system there are various functional areas such as data flow, which are controlled and monitored by a microprocessor. Many of these areas operate asynchronously. The communication with external systems takes place through registers which are distributed, as necessary, within each functional area. The communication is via an address bus to select the specific area and a data bus to transfer the required data information. During the course of operation, it may be desirable to reset one or more of these functional areas.
