Nonlinear AND Gate

This article relates to a nonlinear AND gate which derives its nonlinearity from selected switching of the load impedance of the circuit. Nonlinear AND gate 1 (Fig. 1) includes a pair of interferometers D1, D2 connected in parallel, each fed with a unit of gate current Ig1, Ig2 from DC sources via resistors RC1, RC2, respectively. Interferometers D1, D2 are controlled by the application of control currents A, B on control lines 2, 3, respectively. A Josephson junction device J1 and a load RL are disposed in parallel with each other and with interferometers D1, D2. A resistance RB interconnects devices D1 and D2, while a resistance RS1 interconnects D2 with junction J1. A resistance RS2 is connected between RC1 and J1.
