Analog Power/Root Circuit

The circuit shown above provides an analog power and/or root function. To accomplish this, a differential voltage delta V is developed across the input diodes D1 and D2 by an input current i2 and a reference current i1 driving the bases of transistors T1 and T2, respectively. Transistors T1 and T2 form a current switch. The output current iA, that is the collector current of transistor T1, can be increased by adding diodes in series with the input diodes D1 and D2 or decreased by adding diodes in series with emitter diodes D3 and D4 in the emitter circuit of current switch transistors T2 and T1.
