Test Unit For Printed-Circuit Cards
This test unit is to be used for debugging and testing printed-circuit cards.
Fig. 1A represents the external part of the unit, and Fig. 1B shows the electrical
The unit comprises a first connector element P1 adapted to receive the pins
of the card under test. This connector makes the interface between the card
under test and various kinds of means which have to be connected to selected
card pins for testing purposes namely, switches S, light-emitting diodes (LEDs)
and plugs BNC to which external devices, such as oscilloscopes or signal
generators, may be connected.
Before the test of a set of cards is made, a driver card is wired. This driver
card is plugged into connector element P6 which is linked to connector element
P1 through flat cable FC1 inside the unit. The test unit also comprises
connectors P2 and P5 which are connected to the driver card through flat cables
FC2 and FC3 and connectors P3 and P4. The wiring of the driver card consists in
providing personalized connections on the card so that connectors P3 and P4
are connected to connector P6 in a specific way. Consequently, depending upon
the connections on the driver card, selected pins of the card under test are
connected to the test means S1 to SN, LED1 to LEDK and BNC1 to BNC4.
Rotary switches SR1 to SR4, associated with plugs BNC1 to BNC4, allow a
