In text processing there is a need to store a large number of documents on a direct access storage device (DASD) as described in the article appearing on pages 3798-3800 of this issue. The DASD is divided into permanent storage for storing documents until deleted or archived by an operator and working storage for creating and modifying documents prior to moving them into permanent storage.
