Printing multi-page documents on continuous forms paper presents the problem of positioning the paper at the beginning of each page so that the printed page is placed as specified by the operator. With the present technique, the operator is automatically prompted to change paper when the length of paper required for the current job differs from the length of paper required for the previous job to insure proper alignment at the top of each page.
