A copier/printer is computer controlled by a multiprocessor machine controller (MPMC). In the copy mode, original documents to be copied are placed in a semiautomatic document feed (SADF), scanned by original input optics with the image supplied to copy production portion (CPP) for producing copies on copy sheets supplied from a blank paper supply. For duplexing, an interim storage unit stores single imaged copy sheets. The copy mode copies are supplied to an exit pocket (EP) or to a collator (COL). In the print mode, one of a plurality of electrical image indicating sources, local terminal (LT), such as a magnetic reader/ recorder or a remote terminal connector (RTC) for receiving image indicating signals from remote units via a communication line, drive a laser input (LI) for creating images to be reproduced by CPP.
