Abstract

A tapered conductor side wall is desirable in magnetic bubble devices because it (a) reduces stress in the liquid phase epitaxial (LPE) bubble supporting layer that results in spurious bubble nucleation and (b) reduces the magnetization discontinuity in permalloy patterns caused by the sharp conductor edge that results in lower operating margins and chip process yield.
