Flux Detrapping Mechanism For Josephson Interferometers

This article discloses a method of detrapping flux from Josephson junction interferometers which utilizes a special geometry of an associated groundplane which provides weaker flux pinning forces in the region of the interferometers than in parts of a circuit chip where flux trapping is not critical. This is done by modulating the thickness of the groundplane.
