Abstract

Implementing a binary counter in MOSFET (metal oxide semiconductor field-effect technology) integrated circuitry and NOR logic provides several advantages. First, there is a small circuit count required for each bit, i.e., in the order of 50 NOR circuits are all that is necessary to implement 10 bits. Then it is non-rippling and clocked so that it may easily be tested. It can be sampled at any time other than count times. Because of the MOSFET NOR circuitry, which has a high fan-in capability, the circuit count is low compared to other implementations.
