This optical alignment method uses a special test document as an input and a linear photodiode array output of an optical system for alignment decisions. The test document is placed at the document plane, and the photodiode array is placed approximately at the image plane. A computer and a computer program evaluate the output signals from the photodiode array and direct adjustments necessary to align and focus the optics.
