Abstract

It is necessary to save and restore information which is associated with different interrupt levels. Normally, this is done by the microcode which saves the data information when the system enters an interrupt level and restores it upon leaving the interrupt level. This results in a minimum of two instructions per interrupt level and the use of one register per interrupt level.
