Some graphic tablets have a grid of wires that form a coordinate system. When a cursor is positioned at a point of interest on the tablet, a signal transducer in the cursor is coupled to the wires at that point to produce a signal that identifies the coordinates of the point. This coordinate information can be used by a data processing system in various graphic operations.
