The print drum 10 containing either pits 11 for intaglio printing or raised dots for relief printing is revolved at constant speed near a moving paper 12 without touching. When a dot is to be formed on paper 12 a hammer 13 presses the paper against the desired raised dot 11 at the desired time. Guide 16 maintains the necessary separation of paper 12 from drum 10 except when hammer 13 is operated.
