Abstract

In thermal printers, the head suspension system is critical to good thermal printing. The head suspension system should allow the head to float and provide a maximum head-to-platen contact, and average the force across the thermal elements of each head assembly. A head suspension system has been provided for a thermal printer having 200 thermal elements in each of four head assemblies. Each head assembly is mounted to a machine cross beam independent of the adjacent assembly.
