Major/minor loop bubble memory storage systems (Figs. 1 and 2) provide retry, modification and reentry capabilities in a nonvolatile mode. The architecture consists of a plurality of minor loops 1 each containing storage positions 2 which are surrounded by an open write major loop and a closed read major loop. Bubbles are formed in the generator 5 and proceed to the annihilator 5A unless directed by switch 6 into the open loop 3. Bubbles from open loop 3 are switched into minor loops 1 through switch means 9.
