Operation of this keyboard is based on the creation and propagation of domains of reverse magnetization in specially prepared magnetic wire. The wire has the property that the field required to nucleate a region of reversed magnetization (H(N)) in a uniformly magnetized section is substantially greater than the minimum field (H(O)) required to propagate the reversal into other regions of the wire.
