Abstract

In gas panel operation, one of the significant parameters involved is the operating margin. i.e., the difference between the maximum sustain voltage (V(s) max.) and the minimum sustain voltage (V(s) min.). Following gas panel fabrication or modification of the fabrication process, it is necessary to provide a short term means for determining whether local imperfections in the gas panel or changes in panel construction or process parameters will adversely affect the electrical reliability of the panel. One of the ways this reliability failure is indicated is a decrease in operating margin caused by a rise in the minimum sustain voltage. After the gas panel fabrication is completed, a burn-in of the panel is initiated, during which alternate lines of the panel are turned on for a prescribed testing period of the burn-in cycle.
