Abstract

Conventional n-channel enhancement mode depletion mode (E/D) inverters achieve improved output current drive by using a depletion mode load device with negative threshold voltage and its gate electrically shorted to its source. Thus, the effective gate bias is constant during the turn off transition, and only the increase in source substrate bias and reduction in source drain bias are responsible for the drop in the output current characteristic.
