Read-Only Store Patching Methodolgy

In system applications requiring a processor with an associated memory for program storage (control store), it is often cost effective from a manufacturing standpoint to use nonvolatile read-only memory. If this approach is taken, it is usually necessary to include some method of altering or patching the memory if a program change becomes necessary. Such a method must be implementable in the field with a minimum impact on the availability of the system to the user.
