In gas panel fabrication, two plate glass substrates are hermetically sealed together forming a gap between the two plates which, when filled with an appropriate gas mixture, will permit a plasma discharge at various selected locations depending on the conductor configuration and applied drive signals. The sealing operation is usually accomplished by placing rods of a low temperature solder glass between the two substrate plates and then heating the entire assembly in a furnace. During the heating operation, the solder glass rods soften and fuse the two substrate plates together.
