Abstract

The circuit modules 10 used in data processing systems use detachable cold plates 12 as the ultimate heat sink. The modules are arranged in an array, as shown in the figure. The cold plates 12 which have cold water passing serially therethrough are interconnected with flexible hoses 14. When a module 10 requires servicing or removal, the cold plate 12 is unfastened from the module. Since the cold plate interconnecting hoses 14 retain the cold plate, location problems have been encountered. For example, the cold plate interface surface may be damaged or "nicked'; the cold plate interferes with module removal; and it is difficult to remove a board 16 with all the module cold plates 12 dangling by the interconnecting hoses 14.
