Concept Search - What can I type?
For a concept search, you can enter phrases, sentences, or full paragraphs in English. For example, copy and paste the abstract of a patent application or paragraphs from an article.
Concept search eliminates the need for complex Boolean syntax to inform retrieval. Our Semantic Gist engine uses advanced cognitive semantic analysis to extract the meaning of data. This reduces the chances of missing valuable information, that may result from traditional keyword searching.

Conductive Or Resistive Materials Using Metallized Glass Fibers
Glass fibers that are about .001 inch in diameter and are coated with an
aluminum alloy are useful in applications in which the metallized fibers give
electrical conductivity to non-conductive materials.
A layer of continuous strands of metallized glass fibers is laminated with a
polymer film to form a tape that is given an adhesive on one surface. The tape
can be constructed with the fibers sandwiched between two film layers and with
the adhesive on one of the outer surfaces of the film. Alternatively, the tape can
be constructed as a single layer of polymer film, with the fibers on one surface
and the adhesive on the other. When about 200 fibers are used, the tape has a
resistance of about one ohm per foot, and the tape is useful as a conductor or
resistor in many applications.
In another example of a resistor structure, metallized glass fibers about .0008
inch in diameter were combined with a plastic and formed to a desired shape.
The fibers had a minimum length of 0.125 inch and were randomly oriented. In a
test resistor a value of 4000 ohms was measured with a 12% by weight mixture
of metallized glass and a value of 3000 ohms was measured with a 25% by
weight loading. These values are useful in applications as heater elements and
