A passive device for coding bubbles to have an S=O wall state, i.e., one pair of Bloch lines, is shown in the drawing. The device 10 contains two permalloy bars 12 and 14 that are separated by a gap 16. A track of chevron-shaped magnetic elements 18A-E pass through the gap 16.
