This article describes a pluggable duplexed I/O port for display of byte serialized data, inbound to or outbound from an attached device. The port comprises an outbound path formed from a first stack of m-byte loadable registers (Z1, Z2) and m-displays (D1, D2) coupling the counterpart registers. The port further includes an inbound path formed from a second stack of byte-loadable registers (Z3, Z4), and common controls for accessing the paths, including a first element for regulating the stack lengths and for reading, writing, and clearing the stacks.
