A method for concurrently selecting multiple addresses in a multi-access network in which the message address space is nearly exhausted and for selecting subgroups of the addressable set. The method steps include reserving a portion of the unused space as indicators of a set of addresses, and conditioning each port in the network to accept those message indicators as if they were specially addressed.
