Abstract

Magnetic bubbles must be expanded before sensing in order to give adequate signal amplitude. For example, 1 Mum bubbles are expanded to 100 Mum-long stripes 10 in present "contiguous-disk" (CD) devices. A current-carrying conductor 12 is used for this purpose, while a permalloy sensor 14 is used for the sensing of domains B, which move to the sensor along the major loop in the direction of arrow 16. Unfortunately, the required current is high ( approximately 200 mA), and heating problems are severe.
