In word processing systems utilizing CRT displays, it is on occasion necessary to rotate the display 9O degrees to display data on a page having a horizontal dimension greater than the vertical dimension. The present system provides for the automatic adjustment of the displayed page format for the outline to correspond with the orientation of the CRT display tube. This is achieved through automatic switching of the selected page outline pattern in the outline selection logic associated with the tube upon the rotation of the CRT.
